CHICAGO – Sophomore forward Gordon Wild has been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for his work in wins over No. 24 Georgetown and South Florida, the league announced Tuesday.

Wild scored the game-winning goal on a follow-up from a missed penalty kick attempt with 44 seconds remaining to down rival Georgetown in front of the fourth-largest crowd in Ludwig Field history.

The Cologne, Germany, native then added two more goals in a 4-1 rout of South Florida Monday. He also notched his first career assist with the Terrapins.

Wild currently leads the Big Ten in goals (5) and points (11).

No. 5 Maryland travels to No. 4 Indiana for an early-season marquee conference battle on Friday at 7 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
