
Jones, SWK Named WBCA All-Region Honorees

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Seniors Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the third-seeded Maryland women's basketball team (32-2) were named All-Region honorees by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Thursday.
They are nominees for the WBCA's All-America honors, which will be announced at the Final Four in Dallas April 1. This is the second straight year both Jones and Walker-Kimbrough have earned All-Region honors.
Jones is leading the Terrapins in scoring and rebounding with 20.0 points and 10.7 boards per game. She is leading the nation in field goal percentage at 69.8 percent for the second straight year.
Walker-Kimbrough is averaging 18.9 points per game while shooting 45.9 percent, which is fourth-best in the nation. She also has 123 assists and a team-leading 65 steals this season. Walker-Kimbrough is No. 4 on Maryland's all-time scoring list with 2,140 career points. Her career three-point percentage of 46.3 percent is currently the best in Maryland history, ahead of Toliver's 40.8 percent, and is a Big Ten record.
Jones' career field goal percentage of 65.2 percent is a Big Ten record as well. She is No. 3 on Maryland's rebounding list with 1,194 career boards and is No. 7 on Maryland's scoring list with 1,912 points.
Jones and Walker-Kimbrough were two of 14 players in the country named to the Wooden Award National Ballot and two of 10 ESPNW All-Americans. Jones is one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy. They have earned a record of 125-16 (.887) in their careers. They are one win from tying the winningest class in program history, Marissa Coleman and Kristi Toliver, who won 126 games from 2006-09.
This is the highest scoring team in program history at 90.1 points per game. The previous high was 89.7 by the 1977-78 team. Jones has scored 681 points this season, just six points away from topping the Maryland season scoring record of 686 by Vicky Bullet (1989). She is also 17 rebounds from Alyssa Thomas' season rebounding record of 381 (2014) with 365 this year.
Maryland will take on 10th-seeded Oregon (22-13) Saturday in the NCAA Regional Semifinals in Bridgeport, Conn. The Terps and the Ducks will tip off at 11:30 a.m. ET at Webster Bank Arena.
The Maryland-Oregon game will be televised around the world on ESPN, WatchESPN.com and the Watch ESPN app. Top-seeded Connecticut (33-0) and fourth-seeded UCLA (25-8) will play at 2 p.m. The winners of Saturday's game will advance to Monday's Regional Final at 7 p.m.

This marks Maryland's 25th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Terrapins are 44-23 (.657) all-time in the NCAA Tournament and 32-11 (.744) under head coach Brenda Frese. She's led the Terrapins to eight Sweet Sixteens, six Elite Eights, three Final Fours and the 2006 NCAA title.
The Ducks took their only meeting, 76-70, in Los Angeles on Dec. 29, 1983. The Terps are 10-2 all-time in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and 6-1 under Frese.
