PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The women's 4x200m relay team qualified for the finals on Saturday after finishing third in the field to highlight Maryland's second day of action at the 123rd running of the Penn Relays Friday. Lisa Meneau, Chandler Baxter, Kayla Richardson, Micha Powell combined to finish in 1:35.35, which moves the the squad into second all-time in program history in the event. The mark was the fastest for a Maryland 4x2 team since 2009.
Meneau, Baxter and Powell teamed up with Alexandra Lucki for a seventh place finish in the women's sprint medley relay, crossing the line in a school record 3:53.67.
Claudia Ababio took home sixth in the women's discus, throwing 53.09 meters, Jillian Maloney threw 33.70 meters in the javelin and Peyton Wade went 14.02 in the 100 meter hurdles.
On the men's side, Kameron Jones, Hazem Miawad, TJ Bleichner and Dahri Jahn-Richardson combined to finish 14th in a deep field in the men's 4x400 with a time of 3:12.00. The quartet qualified for Saturday's finals with the finish.
Paul Joseph, in addition to Jahn-Richardson, Jones and Bleichner combined for a time of 3:25.40 in the men's sprint medley relay, claiming 13th in the field.
Gaston Assoua notched a top-12 finish in the long jump, clearing 6.97 meters to take 12th in the field. In the shot put, Nicholas Pulli notched a throw of 15.39 meters to finish 25th and Paul Joseph 53.53 in the men's 400 meter hurdles.
Maryland will wrap up competition tomorrow at the Penn Relays with the men's discus, the women's 4x200m relay finals and the men's 4x400m relay finals.
