COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland wide receiver DJ Moore hauled in eight receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown, but Maryland (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season, falling to UCF, 38-10, at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The injury bug continued to take a toll on Maryland's quarterback position, as true freshman Kasim Hill left the game in the first half due to injury. Hill made his first career start against Towson in
Third-string quarterback Max Bortenschlager completed 15-of-26 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown in the effort.
Moore's touchdown grab was the 13th of his career, moving him into a tie for 5th all-time at Maryland with Darrius Heyward-Bey and Giulian Gary.
Moore's big day wasn't enough as UCF (2-0) racked up 428 yards
Sophomore running back Lorenzo Harrison III paced the Terps ground attack, rushing for 48 yards on 10 attempts.
Senior Josh Woods led the Terps defense with seven tackles, while Shane Cockerille and Tino Ellis each had two pass break-ups.
Maryland begins Big Ten play next Saturday at Minnesota (3-0). The game is set for a noon kick and can be seen on FS1.
