COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland's offense found its rhythm in an impressive 63-33 win over Illinois on Saturday. Check out some of the top team and individual notes.
High Octane Offense...
- Maryland's 63 points are the most the Terps have ever scored in any conference matchup in program history and the most in any game since the Terps scored 63 last season against Towson (9/9/17).
- The 63 points are also the most Maryland has scored against a FBS team since 1954 when the Terps put up 74 against Missouri.
- Maryland finished with 712 yards of total offense, the most for the Terps in a single game since at least 1982. The Maryland record for yards in a game is 802, set against Virginia in 1975.
- The 712 yards is the most by a Matt Canada-led team in his 13 seasons as an offensive coordinator.
Leake's Career Day...
- Sophomore running back Javon Leake rushed for a career-high 140 yards on just five carries (28.0 yards per carry). He scored a career-high three rushing touchdowns and scored on a 97-yard kickoff return.
- Leake's four cumulative touchdowns are the most for a Maryland player since D.J. Adams had four in the 2010 Military Bowl on December 29, 2010.
- Leake's 97-yard kickoff return touchdown is the second kickoff return touchdown for Maryland this season, after Ty Johnson's 98-yard return at Michigan on October 16, 2018. The Terps have three total special teams TDs this season.
King of the Hill...
- Redshirt freshman quarterback Kasim Hill threw for a career-high 265 yards.
- Hill also matched his career high with three touchdown passes.
1,000 Yard Club...
- With a 26-yard reception in the first quarter, senior wide receiver Taivon Jacobs reached 1,000 career receiving yards.
- Jacobs finished the day with 54 yards giving him 1,042 for his career.
Jones Accomplishes Rare Feat...
- Freshman wide receiver Jeshaun Jones is the first freshman in the Big Ten to have two games with a touchdown catch and touchdown run since Ohio State's Maurice Clarett in 2003.
- Jones is also the quickest Maryland freshman to score three receiving touchdowns in a season since DJ Moore also did it through eight games in 2015.
Quick Hitters...
- With Javon Leake totaling 140 yards in the win, the Terps became one of just five teams in the FBS to have four different players go over 100-yards rushing in a game this year. Leake joins Ty Johnson, Anthony McFarland and Tayon Fleet-Davis as Terp 100-yard rushers.
- Tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo caught a 25-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, becoming the first Terp tight end to haul in a TD reception since Derrick Hayward did it against Florida International on September 10, 2016.
- Defensive back Antwaine Richardson picked up his first career interception in the second quarter.
- In the first half, Maryland tallied three touchdowns in three different ways, all over 45 yards - a Javon Leake 97-yard kickoff return touchdown, a Jahrvis Davenport 46-yard receiving touchdown and a Leake 64-yard rushing touchdown. It marks the first game the Terps have had a kickoff return, receiving and rushing touchdown over 45 yards since the 2008 Humanitarian Bowl where Torrey Smith had a 99-yard kick return touchdown, Adrian Cannon caught a 59-yard receiving touchdown, and both Morgan Green and Da'Rel Scott notched rushing touchdowns over 45 yards.
