WILMINGTON, N.C. – Sophomore
Virunpat Olankitkunchai of the Maryland women's golf team finished tied for sixth at the Landfall Tradition tournament this weekend at the Country Club of Landfall Dye Course in Wilmington, N.C.

Olankitkunchai led the field and was three strokes under par entering Sunday's final round. She shot a 78 Sunday to finish with a score of 219 (71-70-78), which was three strokes over total. This is her third straight top six finish this fall.Â

As a team, the 56
th-ranked Terrapins finished seventh out of 18 teams competing with a score of 904 (309-290-305). The Terps topped No. 19 Purdue, No. 20 Furman, No. 28 Michigan State, No. 37 North Carolina and No. 39 Penn State.
"This was a positive end to our season," head coach
Diana Cantu said. "Beating top 30 teams gives us a lot of confidence for the spring semester. We played in very tough conditions at this event which is great for our team in order to continue to grow and gain more experience. We played with very competitive teams which allowed us to see where we are against them. what we can do as well as them and what we can improve on.
"I am very proud of Virunpat for another strong performance. She continues to put herself in contention for an individual win. As she gets more comfortable being in that position, I am confident she will get it done soon."

Ludovica Farina finished +12 overall with a score of 228 (79-71-78). Junior
Xiaolin Tian was 14 strokes over with a score of 230 (78-77-75).

Sophomore
Laura Van Respaille earned a score of 235 (84-72-79) and freshman
Elena Verticchio finished with a score of 236 (81-81-74).

The Terrapins will open their spring slate Feb. 10-12, 2019 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
"I am looking forward to the off season, we are going to take that time to catch up in the classroom and get stronger physically and mentally in order to be ready for a strong spring," Cantu said.Â
