UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Maryland (5-7, 3-6 Big Ten) dropped its regular season finale at No. 15 Penn State (9-3, 6-3 Big Ten), 38-3, on Saturday afternoon.
This was the fifth ranked opponent Maryland has faced this season and the third on the road. Maryland compiled 259 yards of offense on 185 passing and 74 rushing, led by a career-best 58 receiving yards on two receptions from freshman wide receiver
Brian Cobbs.Â
Down 7-0, Maryland drove 52 yards on seven plays, led by a 48-yard reception by Cobbs to put the Terps in field goal range. Freshman kicker
Joseph Petrino cashed in on his 12th field goal of the season to put the Terps on the board.
Trace McSorley paced Penn State's offense with 230 passing yards and 64 rushing yards, while accounting for three touchdowns.Â
Isaiah Davis led the Terps defense with nine tackles.
Antwaine Richardson recovered a fumble and had two pass break-ups.
