Baxter Wins Mat Town Open Title

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Redshirt freshman Hunter Baxter finished with a 3-0 record as he took home the 149-pound title at the Mat Town Open on Sunday.
Baxter outscored opponents 15-7 through three matches to take home the crown. He opened his day with an impressive 8-2 decision over Columbia's Cole Corrigan. The Pennsylvania native then tallied a pair of one-point wins in his semifinal and championship bouts. He topped West Virginia's Alex Hornfeck, 3-2, in the semifinal before knocking off Penn State's Joey Blumer, 4-3, in the title match.
Redshirt sophomore Brandon Cray also placed for the Terrapins, wrestling in his first action this season. His day featured a 13-1 major decision triumph in the opening round against Columbia's Spencer Good.
Chase DeMaille also earned a win for Maryland, pinning Brendon Hall at the 4:56 mark of his second-round bout.
Next, Maryland will open its dual schedule with a bout at Penn on Dec. 2. Wrestling from Philadelphia is slated to begin at 4 p.m. For full results from the Mat Town Open, please see below.
