
Four Terps Invited to MLS Player Combine

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland soccer student athletes Amar Sejdic, Andrew Samuels, Sebastian Elney and Chase Gasper were invited to the 2018 MLS Player Combine, which will take place Jan. 3-9 at Orlando City Stadium.
Sixty players from universities in the United States and Canada were invited for the Combine. Prospective selections in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft will have an opportunity to play scrimmages for scouts of all MLS teams, as well as go through various tests and speak to interested teams ahead of the SuperDraft, which will be on Jan. 11 at McCormick Place convention center in Chicago. 2019 Expansion team FC Cincinnati will have the top pick in the SuperDraft.
Sejdic, one of Maryland's captains, was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the NCAA Tournament. A midfielder, he led Maryland with eight goals and also added an assist. The senior was also named a second-team United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection.
Samuels excelled as Maryland's defensive midfield specialist in his 23 starts as the Terps allowed just 16 goals this season. He added two assists and was named a captain late in the season.
Gasper was another key member of Maryland's defensive effort in his 15 games at left back. The Alexandria, Va., native tallied five assists including three in one match against Ohio State, which tied a Maryland single game record.
Elney, who had a penchant for clutch goals throughout his career, scored the goal that send Maryland to the College Cup in the quarterfinals against Kentucky. For the season, Elney had four tallies and also contributed a pair of assists.
