
#2 Terps Take on #17 Michigan Saturday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The No. 2 Maryland men's lacrosse team opens Big Ten play Saturday in Ann Arbor when it faces Michigan at noon on Big Ten Network. The Terrapins and Wolverines have met every season since their inaugural meeting in 2014, with the Terps winning all four contests.
BY THE NUMBERS
4 - Junior Curtis Corley has started every game over the last two seasons at close defense, but he burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2016 when he came off the bench and won 4-of-5 critical second half faceoffs in the Big House. The possession helped Maryland claim an 8-7 victory the Wolverines, as Bryan Cole scored the game-winner with 49 seconds remaining.
4 - The Terrapins have become accustomed to playing ahead this season, trailing for just 4:29 of a possible 480 minutes through eight games. Maryland is currently outscoring opponents 31-10 in the first quarter and 57-27 in the first half.
6 - Maryland has won six consecutive conference openers (4-0 in Big Ten) and eight of its last nine dating back to 2009. The Terrapins are 13-2 all-time in Big Ten regular season play, and 17-3 overall including Big Ten Tournament action. The Terps have also claimed at least a share of five combined Big Ten regular season and tournament titles in the first three years.
8 - Sophomore Jared Bernhardt has tallied multiple points in all eight games this season, including at least four points in 6-of-8 outings. He currenty leads the team with 24 goals, while shooting 50 percent. In 19 starts as a freshman, Bernhardt had 20 goals and eight assists.
10 - Maryland has scored at least 10 goals in all eight games this season. The Terrapin offense is among the most steady forces in the country, leading the nation in man-up (62.5%) and fewest turnovers (10.0/g), while ranking fifth in shooting percentage (37.0).
33 - Freshman faceoff specialist Justin Shockey has won 33 faceoffs and picked up 21 ground balls over his last two games, including a 16-of-20 (.800) day against Norh Carolina. Shockey currently leads freshmen nationally with a 60.9 faceoff winning percentage.
63 - The Maryland extra-man unit continues to lead the country with a 63-percent conversion rate. Freshman Logan Wisnauskas, sophomore Jared Bernhardt and senior Connor Kelly each have four man-up goals this season, all tying for the Big Ten lead.
93 - The Terrapins tallied their seventh win of the season last weekend against North Carolina, guaranteeing their 93rd consecutive season with a .500 or better record - every season of the program's existence since 1924.
100 - Senior midfielder Connor Kelly scored three goals against No. 5 Villanova to reach 100 for his career, joining the legendary Frank Urso (1973-76) as the only midfielders in Maryland history to achieve the feat. Urso finished with 127 in his career. Kelly currently ranks 12th all-time wiht 104 career goals after scoring four more against UNC.
