COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland men's lacrosse senior midfielder Connor Kelly has been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and midfielder Bubba Fairman has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after outstanding performances in last week's win against Rutgers.
It marks the third Big Ten honor of the season for Kelly and the first for Fairman.
Kelly was also named the Baltimore Sun National Player of the Week and earned a spot on the USILA National Team of the Week for the second straight week.
Kelly was sensational against Rutgers, having a hand in 8-of-11 Terrapin goals with four goals and four assists on the day. Kelly's game-winner with three minutes remaining proved to be the difference.
The Easton, Conn., native has 60 points through 11 games (32g, 28a), which is the most for a Maryland player in the first 11 games of a season since Bob Boneillo in 1978. Kelly currently leads the Big Ten in both points/g (5.5) and assists/g (2.6).
Fairman stepped up for the Terps with a hat trick against the Scarlet Knights, with two of his goals coming in the second half. The Sandy, Utah, native now has two hat tricks over his last three games.
Kelly, Fairman and the Terps return to action Sunday at 2 pm when they welcome Ohio State to Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium for a rematch of the 2017 National Championship game. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
