BY THE NUMBERS
2 - The Terrapin specialist units are both among the best in the country, with the man-up unit ranking second and the man-down ninth. The Terrapin man-up unit is scoring at a 64-percent (21-of-33) clip, as Jared Bernhardt leads the Big Ten with seven man-up goals. Meanwhile, the man-down unit has allowed just three goals on 21 attempts over its last seven games.
4 - For the fourth consecutive season, a Big Ten regular season champion will be crowned as a result of the matchup between Maryland and Hopkins. The Terps claimed the title outright in 2016 and 2017, and shared it with Hopkins in the inaugural 2015 season. Maryland is 16-3 in Big Ten regular season play since the start of conference play in 2015.
5 - Head coach John Tillman sports a 5-4 (.556) record against the Blue Jays, with Saturday's game marking his 10th in the series. It marks the best winning percentage all-time for a Terrapin coach in the series, narrowly besting the legendary coaching tandem of Jack Faber & Al Heagy which compiled a 16-15-1 (.516) record from 1931-63.
7 - Last season's meeting between Maryland and Hopkins was never in doubt for the Terps, which jumped out a to a 6-0 first quarter lead and took a 9-1 advantage into the halftime break. Connor Kelly had four goals in the win. Maryland's seven-goal margin of victory in the series was its largest since an 11-4 victory in 2006 led by Joe Walters.
10 - The Terps are the only team in Division I to score at least 10 goals in every game this season - a remarkable feat for a team which lost 54 percent of its scoring from 2017. Maryland is shooting the ball at a 37-percent clip which ranks fifth nationally, while only turning the ball over a nation's best 9.7 times per game.
65 - Senior midfielder Connor Kelly is up to 65 points (36/29) on the season after posting five last weekend against Ohio State. Kelly, who has 20 points over his last three games, is looking to become just the ninth player in program history to reach 70 points in a season. Comparatively speaking, Matt Rambo had 56 points (30/26) through 12 games last season.
91 - Other than a two-year gap from 1944-45, Maryland and Johns Hopkins have met every season since the Terps' inaugural 1924 season - a span of 91 years. While Maryland does not recognize games before it became an officially sanctioned varsity program, the Terps and Blue Jays met seven times between 1895 and 1923.
