COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Each week during the 2017-18 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is Greg Thompson of the Maryland men's track and field team.
Greg Thompson continued to thrive in the 2018 outdoor season, winning the men's discus competition at the nationally prestigious Penn Relays competition this past weekend. Thompson threw 61.29m (201'0) for a lifetime best to take the victory in the event. This marks the second straight event Thompson has won the men's discus competition and broken his own lifetime record, throwing a 199'6” (60.81m) at the Virginia Challenge last week. The junior is currently ranked fifth in the East Region in discus and sixth in the nation.
The Maryland track and field team will host the Kehoe Twilight Meet on Friday, May 4th. This will also serve as senior night to recognize those athletes who have contributed to the program over the past four years.
