COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After his two-goal performance against Northwestern on Friday, freshman William James Herve was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
In a come-from-behind 2-1 win over the Wildcats, Herve netted the tying goal in the 84th minute before notching the winner in the 95th minute. The goals were the first two of Herve's Maryland career and he became the first freshman to score two goals in a match since Eryk Williamson in 2015.
Williamson was Maryland's last Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, earning the honor on Oct. 17, 2017 after a hat trick against Wisconsin. Maryland welcomes Wisconsin to Ludwig Field this Friday at 7 p.m. The match can be seen live on BTN.
