COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland wrestling head coach Kerry McCoy announced the schedule for the 2018-19 season on Monday.
The schedule features seven dual matches against opponents who finished in the top 30 at the 2018 NCAA Championships. It also includes a trip to the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, one of the most competitive wrestling tournaments each year.
"I'm fired up for the season," McCoy said. "We have a strong schedule that provides us with many opportunities to challenge ourselves. The team is hungry and ready to get another season going. It's going to be fun."
Maryland's season will begin with its annual Red-Black Wrestle Offs, which will be on Oct. 25 in the XFINITY Center. The Terrapins will then head to Princeton on Nov. 4 for the first open tournament of the season.
The Terrapins will begin their dual schedule on the road, traveling to Ivy League foe Penn on Dec. 2. Maryland then opens up its home slate against in-state rival Navy on Dec. 7 before hosting Central Michigan on Dec. 9.
The Terps will then travel to Chicago for the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships on Dec. 29-30.
Maryland's B1G schedule kicks off with a road trip to Purdue on Jan. 11 and Indiana on Jan. 13. The Terps then return home for a three-match home stand which features matches against Nebraska on Jan. 18, Michigan State on Jan. 27 and Wisconsin on Feb. 2.
Maryland then hits the road again to battle B1G foes Iowa and Minnesota on Feb. 8 and 10 respectively.
After battling Michigan at home on Feb. 15, Maryland will then take a break from conference action to wrestle local foe George Mason on Feb. 17.
The Terrapins' conference slate will conclude with a home bout against Rutgers on Feb. 22. Maryland's regular season finale features a trip to Rider on Feb. 24.
The 2019 Big Ten Championships take place at the University of Minnesota on Mar. 9-10, and the NCAA Championships will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Mar. 21-23.
