
Terps Complete Day Two at Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Maryland's women's tennis team wrapped up day two at the UVA Fab Five Tournament played at the Snyder Tennis Center.
Senior Eva Alexandrova along with junior Amber Policare started the day off for the Terps in doubles play against UVA's Vivian Glozman and Chloe Gullickson, putting up a strong effort but came up short 6-4.
Freshman Ayana Akli and senior Katsiaryna Yemelyanenka continued doubles play for Maryland, first taking on ODU's Shalimar Talbi and Alexandra Viktorovich. The pair managed to put up two points against the pair, but fell 6-2. Akli and Yemelyanenka then bounced back against VT's Annie Clark and Shene Disbergen coming up victorious in a 7-5 battle.
The Terrapins moved on to singles play, with appearances from Alexandrova, Akli and Policare. Policare faced Shahar Biran of ODU, falling in two sets 6-0, 6-1. Alexandrova put up a valiant effort against ODU's Alesya Yakubovic , coming back from a 6-0 loss in the first set to win the second 7-5, but was defeated 1-0(8) in the deciding tiebreaker.
Akli came out victorious for Maryland in singles play, defeating Yulia Starodubtseva of Old Dominion 6-4, 6-0 to wrap up play on day two of the UVA Fab Five Tournament.
Competition will continue for a final day on Sunday with singles play beginning at 9 a..m.
