COLLEGE PARK, Md. --Â The Maryland women's basketball team held an open practice Sunday morning at the XFINITY Center, giving fans an inside look into the team's upcoming season.
The team began practice with various offensive drills and ended with multiple full-court scrimmages. Head coach
Brenda Frese was mic'd up, engaging with fans and her team throughout the event.
Â
Rob Brunet, a Terp fan from Maryland, enjoyed the event's unique experience.
Â
"Any time we get to see the team in action and see how they do drills and scrimmaging, really helps you understand what's happening in the actual game situations. Being able to see the court and hear Brenda mic'd up is fantastic," said Brunet.
Â
Fans are looking forward to the season and are eager to support the Terps.
Â
"This is a huge season especially because of the incredible freshman group that's here to compliment the seniors and everyone else, I think it's going to be a really great mix with really great chemistry," Brunet said.
Â
Following practice, the team answered questions and signed autographs for fans.
Â
A fan and basketball coach from Maryland, Jason Campbell, brought his daughter to the event.
Â
"Coming from more of a fan perspective as opposed to a coach, I thought it was educationally put together but also entertaining," Campbell said.
Â
The event is in advance of a highly anticipated season as the Terrapins are No. 5 in the preseason ESPNW and NCAA polls.Â
Â
Maryland will host Cal U in its first of two exhibitions on Friday, Oct. 25 and Lincoln University in its second exhibition on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Â
The Terrapins will officially open the new season on Tuesday, Nov. 5 with a home matchup against Wagner at 11 a.m.Â
