COLLEGE PARK, Md. --Â The Maryland women's basketball team beat the Delaware Blue Hens, 99-55, Sunday at the XFINITY Center. Maryland controlled the game from the start and never looked back in a balanced effort.
Taylor Mikesell matched her career high with 23 points, and No. 8 Maryland cruised to a 99-55 victory over Delaware on Sunday.
Â
Ashley Owusu andÂ
Blair Watson both had 12 points for the Terrapins (3-1), who didn't need a comeback against the Blue Hens (0-3) in their first game since erasing a 19-point deficit in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's 70-68 victory at James Madison.

"I thought some areas we have been working hard on in practice showed today," head coach
Brenda Frese said. "I thought the quick start, especially defensively, was a big improvement for us. We shared the basketball, 27 assists. I thought we had a much better purpose to what we were doing on offense. I think obviously the more times we get to spend together and repping, as a team we're able to continue and improve."
Maryland never trailed and quickly achieved separation in the first quarter. Mikesell hit a 3-pointer and Watson added two more -- all in a span of 53 seconds -- to give the Terps a 20-4 lead and cap an 18-2 run. Delaware never cut the deficit to less than 11 the rest of the way and trailed 57-24 at halftime.
The Blue Hens struggled with their ball handling throughout the game due to the aggressive Maryland defense, forcing the Blue Hens to commit 25 turnovers, leading to 41 Maryland points.Â
Tee Johnson led Delaware with 15 points.
Â
Stephanie Jones added 11 points for Maryland,
Shakira Austin scored 10 as five total Terrapins hit double figures.
Maryland improved to 13-0 against Delaware.
The Terps continue their home stretch Wednesday when they host George Washington at 7:00 p.m.
