COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland women's tennis head coach
Katie Dougherty announced the addition of Adela Josefova, who will join the Terps for the 2020 spring season, Tuesday afternoon.
Josefova comes to Maryland from the Czech Republic, where she was one of the country's top junior players. She has represented her country in the Junior Olympics and Junior Fed Cup, and has finished as high as second at the Czech Junior National Championships.
"We're excited to welcome Adela to Maryland in January," Dougherty said. "She has an extensive competitive background in both singles and doubles and is highly motivated to compete and improve. Adela is a great student and understands that academic excellence is at the core of our program. We're looking forward to her making an immediate impact on both our singles and doubles line-ups this spring."
A native of Hradec Kralove, Josefova took third place at the 2019 Czech Women's National Championships in doubles. She was also a regional singles champions at a variety of different junior age groups in addition to the women's open division.
