Terps Unveil 2020 Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Head Coach Cathy Reese of the reigning NCAA Champion Maryland women's lacrosse team announced its 2020 schedule on Tuesday, where the Terps will face 11 teams that finished last season in the top-25.
"We are so excited to get back on the field and start our season," said Reese. "We are once again playing one of the toughest schedules in the country that will challenge our team and prepare us for the postseason. Our group has a lot of potential and will be incredibly exciting for our fans to watch."
The Terrapins will take on No. 3 North Carolina, No. 4 Northwestern, No. 5 Syracuse, No. 6 Princeton, No. 11 Michigan, No. 13 Florida, No. 14 Penn, No. 15 James Madison, No. 16 Navy, No. 18 Georgetown and No. 22 Johns Hopkins.
Maryland opens the season on the road at George Mason on February 8.
After spending a year at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium last season, the Terps will return to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex for the 2020 season, beginning with a February 15 matchup against Florida.
The following two weeks, Maryland will compete against two top-five teams on the road as the Terps travel to North Carolina (February 22) and Syracuse (February 28). Last season, Maryland defeated both in overtime classics in College Park.
The Terrapins return home for a three-game home stand against Navy (March 4), Hofstra (March 7) and for the Big Ten opener against Rutgers (March 14).
Maryland will hit the road for games at Penn (March 17) and Ohio State (March 21) before returning home for another three-game home stand.
The Terps will play their first Thursday night Big Ten matchup in a rematch of last years Big Ten Championship and National Semifinal on March 26 versus Northwestern. A meeting of the last two National Champions will occur in College Park on March 29 when Maryland hosts James Madison. On April 1, the Terps will face San Diego State for the first time in program history.
Maryland will return to conference play at the site of last year's national championship this year's final four when the Terps travel up I-95 to play Johns Hopkins on April 4. The Terrapins will then travel to Princeton for a midweek on April 8.
The Terrapins finish their 2020 home schedule against Penn State (April 16) and Georgetown (April 21).
The regular season will wrap up with a Big Ten battle at Michigan on April 25.
The Big Ten Tournament will take place from May 1-3 in Columbus, Ohio on the campus of Ohio State. The NCAA First and Second Rounds will be hosted at campus sites from May 8-10 and the Third Round will take place on May 16. The Final Four will be hosted at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore from May 22-24.
The Terps finished the 2019 season with a 22-1 record and won the Big Ten regular season title en route to the program's 15th national title. Maryland welcomes the top recruiting class in the country and returns four starters in 2020.
