The GymTerps introduced the 2020 roster Friday evening in the annual Red-Black intrasquad meet held in the XFINITY Pavilion.
"I'm really pleased with where we are right now and what we showed tonight," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "We showed lots of power on vault and floor and great consistency on beam and bars. Now we'll take the next month and polish everything up"
Maryland showcased its largest group of gymnasts since 2015 with the additions of two transfers and six freshmen bringing the Terps to a 17 woman roster. At least two freshmen appeared in each rotation helping the Terps solidify a solid lineup.
"Our upperclassmen looked great as expected but I was excited to see our freshmen get out and shine as well, they gave us 8 big hit routines tonight," said Nelligan.
The meet featured guest judges Antoine Brooks (football), Anissa Mose and Alyssa Poarch (women's soccer), and Kam Jones and Jasmine Tiamfook (track).
The expert judging crew handed out only two 10's during the duration of the meet, one for junior Audrey Barber on beam and freshman Emma Silberman on vault.
Maryland will open the 2020 season at the Little Boston Invitational with West Chester, and George Washington on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Boston, Mass.
