
Kaila Charles Named to Citizen Naismith List

ATLANTA -- Junior Kaila Charles of the eighth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team is one of 30 players in the country named to the Women's Citizen Naismith Trophy Midseason Team, announced Monday by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
Charles is leading the Terrapins (22-2, 11-2 B1G) and is fifth in the Big Ten in scoring with 16.0 points per game. She led Maryland to a dominant 62-48 win at No. 20 Rutgers Sunday with 17 points off 7-for-10 shooting from the field.
She's also averaging 6.1 boards, 2.3 assists and is shooting over 51 percent from the floor and 81 percent from the free throw line.
Charles has scored in double figures in 21 of 24 games so far this season and has led the Terps to a 1.5-game lead at the top of the Big Ten standings.
Last week, Charles was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week honor roll for the sixth time in her career. She was also named to the Wade Trophy Watch List and the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20.
Next, the Terrapins will return home to host Nebraska (11-13, 6-7) Thursday at 8 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. For tickets, click here.
