COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Thirteen Terps showcased their talents in front of representatives from 29 NFL teams at Maryland footballs annual Pro Day, which was held Wednesday afternoon inside Cole Field House.
Forty scouts, coaches and player personnel representatives were in attendance as the Terps were tested, measured and put through various drills.
After measurements, Pro Day participants took part in the 225-pound bench press test, the vertical jump, broad jump, 40-yard dash, pro shuttle, 3-cone drill and 60-yard shuttle. The day wrapped up with individual position skill work.
Having shined at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in February, defensive back Darnell Savage, Jr. only participated in position-specific workouts.
"I'm just happy to be in this position," said Savage. "I'm happy to have had the opportunity to go to the combine…Just coming out here today with all my teammates, and experiencing this together was a lot of fun."
Savage ran a 4.36 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, the second-fastest among his position group and the eighth-fastest overall. The Second Team All-Big Ten selection also recorded the third-best vertical jump (39.5'') among safeties at the combine.
Offensive lineman Derwin Gray and defensive lineman Byron Cowart also participated in the NFL Combine, but chose to take part in numerous drills during Maryland's Pro Day.
Other Terps that participated at Pro Day from this past year's team included defensive lineman Jesse Aniebonam, wide receiver Jahrvis Davenport, defensive back RaVon Davis, wide receiver Taivon Jacobs, running back Ty Johnson, offensive lineman Brendan Moore, offensive lineman Damian Prince, defensive lineman Celso Rivera, defensive lineman Mbi Tanyi and linebacker Tre Watson.
Players will now have the opportunity to attend NFL team's local Pro Days as well as meet with teams on an individual basis.
The 2019 NFL Draft is set for April 25-27 and will be held at Downtown Nashville Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Maryland opens its 2019 campaign on Saturday, August 31 at home against Howard. For more information on the season, follow @TerpsFootball on Twitter and Instagram, and for details on purchasing tickets, visit LockedIn2019.com.
