Watson Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Former University of Maryland linebacker Tre Watson has been named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, the organization announced Wednesday.
In its 13th year, the Hampshire Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions and recognizes senior football players who maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) throughout their college career.
A 2018 First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, Watson has obtained his bachelor's degree in Community Health. Also a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Watson is perusing his Masters of Public Health: Behavioral and Community Health.
On the field, Watson earned Second Team All-America honors from the Football Writers Association of America and First Team All-Big Ten accolades after a stellar senior season for the Terps. He led the Big Ten in both tackles per game (9.6) and interceptions (5). His five interceptions were the most in program history for a linebacker.
Watson is the sixth Terp to earn this prestigious honor, joining Josh Wilson (2007), Daniel Gronkowski (2009), Travis Baltz (2011), Jalen Brooks (2018) and Adam Greene (2018).
