Nine Terps Selected to the Shrine Bowl 1000 List

TAMPA, FL – Nine Maryland football players were named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list, which consists of the best 1,000 players throughout all of college football who are currently all-star game eligible for the 2027 East-West Shrine Bowl and the 2027 NFL Draft class.
Defensive backs Lavain Scruggs, Amari Jackson and Jamare Glasker, linebacker Daniel Wingate, punter Bryce McFerson, tight end Dorian Fleming and offensive linemen Tellek Lockette, Isaiah Wright and Rahtrel Perry have all been selected to this year's watchlist,
The East-West Shrine Bowl will be held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, on February 4, 2027. Players will be coached by NFL coaches within an NFL facility, gaining access to NFL-level resources, facilities, and exposure. The game will be nationally televised on the NFL Network, with proceeds benefitting Shriners Children's Hospitals.
Player Spotlights
Amari Jackson, Defensive Back
Jackson joined the Terps this season after spending four years at Boston College. During his time with the Eagles, he started 25 of 29 games, totaling 59 solo tackles, two interceptions, and 15 pass breakups. Coming out of high school, Jackson was rated a four-star recruit by ESPN.
Jamare Glasker, Defensive Back
Glasker started all 10 games he appeared in during his first season as a Terp in 2025. He earned 2025 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors after tying for the team lead and ranking fourth in the Big Ten with four interceptions. He recorded an interception in three consecutive games (Nebraska, UCLA, and Indiana), marking the longest interception streak by a Terp in a single season since William Likely III in 2014. He also returned an interception for a touchdown at UCLA. Glasker ranked second on the team with six pass breakups.
Daniel Wingate, Linebacker
Wingate started all 12 games last season and led the team with 102 tackles, ranking sixth in the Big Ten and 35th nationally. He became the first Terp to surpass the 100-tackle mark in a season since Tre Watson's All-American campaign in 2018. He also ranked second in the Big Ten and tied for seventh nationally with 62 solo tackles.
Tellek Lockette, Offensive Lineman
Lockette joined the Terps this season after transferring from Texas State. In 2025, Lockette earned the highest Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade among all Group of Five offensive linemen. He also earned First Team All-Sun Belt honors from Phil Steele and Athlon Sports. In 2024, Lockette started all 13 games at right guard, helping Texas State rank fifth nationally in total offense (476.9 yards per game), eighth in scoring offense (36.5 points per game), and 16th in rushing offense (208.2 yards per game).
Isaiah Wright, Offensive Lineman
Wright started all 12 games last season at left guard and was a key contributor to a Maryland offensive line that allowed just nine sacks on the season—the fifth-fewest in the nation and second-fewest in the Big Ten. Wright was named 2025 Academic All-Big Ten, voted by his teammates as one of three season-long team captains, and received the Jordan McNair Memorial Award at the team's year-end banquet.
Rahtrel Perry, Offensive Lineman
Perry started all 12 games at left tackle a year ago and was a key contributor to a Maryland offensive line that allowed just nine sacks on the season—the fifth-fewest in the nation and second-fewest in the Big Ten. Perry was named to the Pro Football Focus Team of the Week following Week 1 and earned 2025 Academic All-Big Ten honors.
Bryce McFerson, Punter
McFerson finished the regular season second in the Big Ten with a 44.2-yard punting average, the sixth-best single-season mark in program history. He averaged at least 45.0 yards per punt in six of 12 games, recorded 14 punts of 50-plus yards (second-most in the Big Ten), and placed 19 punts inside the 20-yard line (fourth-most in the conference). McFerson earned 2025 Second Team All-Big Ten honors and was a three-time Ray Guy Award Ray's 8 List selection. He was also named Academic All-Big Ten and CSC Academic All-District in 2025.
Lavain Scruggs, Defensive Back
Scruggs started all 12 games for the Terps and ranked third on the team with 64 tackles. He added two interceptions, three pass breakups, and one quarterback hurry on the season. Scruggs recorded a career-high 11 tackles at Illinois and posted 10 tackles with an interception against Rutgers. He also had eight tackles against Michigan and recorded his first interception of the season, along with four tackles, against FAU.
Dorian Fleming, Tight End
Fleming appeared in all 12 games with 10 starts during his first season as a Terp. He finished the season tied for second among Big Ten tight ends with 40 receptions for 351 yards and ranked third on the team with three receiving touchdowns. Fleming recorded a career-high nine receptions against Washington, the second-most by an FBS tight end in a game that season and the second-most by a Maryland tight end in the last 30 seasons (behind Chig Okonkwo's 12 receptions on Nov. 6, 2021). He earned 2025 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors and was named to the 2025 John Mackey Award Watch List.
