Maryland Heads to Final Round of B1G Championships

MAINEVILLE, Ohio – Two competitors for the Maryland women's golf team are two strokes off the lead heading into the final round of the Big Ten Championships Sunday at TPC River's Bend.

Sophomore Virunpat Olankitkunchai and junior Xiaolin Tian are both one stroke over par and two strokes off the individual lead. Both shot a 73 in the first round Friday, then Saturday's second round was cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

Sophomore Laura Van Respaille is five strokes over with a 77 and senior Ludovica Farina is six strokes over. Senior Ludovica Scandroglio and sophomore Charlotte Lafourade are each eight strokes over par with scores of 80.

As a team, the Terrapins are eighth out of 14 and just four strokes out of the top four.

The teams will tee off at 8 a.m. Sunday in the final round. Live scoring will be available here.

The course was named one of the Top 10 Best New Private Clubs in the U.S. after its opening in 2001.

Last year, the Terrapins had their best showing in program history in the Big Ten Championships placing second overall as a team. Xiaolin Tian finished second for the Terps last year as an individual.
