COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's tennis team wrapped up its 2018-19 season this past weekend, falling on the road to Purdue and Indiana. The Terrapins season featured a trio of victories, including a conference win over Rutgers and another against local foe Georgetown.
The Terrapins were led this season by senior Milllie Stretton, who excelled in both doubles and singles action. Alongside partner Eva Alexandrova, Stretton tallied seven victories at the top doubles spot of Maryland's lineup. She also picked up an additional win while playing with Anastasiia Gevel. Stretton also played in the top three spots of Maryland's singles lineup, winning a team-best six matches during the spring season.
Maryland also saw continued success from Alexandrova and fellow sophomore Zoe Kulkarni. Both earned five singles victories on the year, with four from Alexandrova out of the top slot of Maryland's singles lineup. Alexandrova also finished the season with eight doubles wins.
The Terrapins lose just two members of the squad to graduation following this season, as Stretton and fellow senior Arnelle Sullivan closed out their successful careers. The Terrapins will welcome five-star recuit Ayana Akli to the squad for the 2019-2020 season, which will kick off next September.
