COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Five Terrapins were named Inside Lacrosse Media All-Americans as announced Sunday evening. Junior Jared Bernhardt was named a Third Team All-American, while Curtis Corley, Anthony DeMaio, Roman Puglise and Logan Wisnauskas earned Honorable Mention accolades.
This is Bernhardt's first appearance on Inside Lacrosse's Media All-America list, adding to an already impressive collection of accolades in 2019 which includes Tewaaraton Finalist and First Team All-Big Ten selection. Bernhardt established himself as one of the nation's most productive players, leading the Terps in goals (47) while ranking second in points (73).
The Longwood, Fla. native's 73 points and 47 goals both rank 10th and tied for sixth (respectively) on the Maryland single season list heading following the team's First Round NCAA Tournament victory over owson, while his 4.67 points per game average is good for 13th in the country.
The junior attackman has three game-winning goals to his name this season, including the OT winner in Maryland's 10-9 victory over Ohio State on April 20. The two-time USILA All-American put together a streak of six consecutive hat tricks from March 9 to April 14, the longest hat trick streak by a Terp since 2001. Bernhardt added another clutch goal for the Terps against Towson, scoring with just three seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
This is Corley's second straight appearance on the Inside Lacrosse Media All-America list, after being named a First Team All-Big Ten choice this year. The senior close defender has anchored the Maryland defense this season, starting in all 15 games while totaling 15 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. The Medford Lakes, N.J. native helped keep eight opponents under 10 goals this season, while also posting his first career assist in Maryland's 16-12 win over Michigan on April 6.
Wisnauskas was tabbed a Media All-American for the first time in his career after a record-breaking sophomore campaign in College Park. The Sykesville, Md. native leads the Terps in points (75), which broke the Maryland record for points by a sophomore set back in 1965 (74) back Jack Heim. Wisnauskas ranks 11th in the nation in points per game (4.93) and became the first Terrapin to ever post back-to-back 50-point seasons as a freshman and sophomore. He has posted three eight-point games this year, becoming just the third player in school history to post three such games in the same season.
Puglise had a standout season at the short stick defensive midfield position for the Terps, scoring seven goals while recording two assists. The Lorton, Va. native ranks second on the team with 44 ground balls in addition to causing four turnovers. Puglise's first goal of the year was the game-winner in Maryland's overtime win over 2019 Quarterfinalist Penn, while he also scored Maryland's first man-down goal since 2012.
DeMaio had a breakout sophomore campaign for the Terrapins in 2019, ranking third on the team in points (42) and assists (18). DeMaio came through in big games for the Terps throughout the year, including a career-high four goals vs. #19 North Carolina and a three-goal, three-assist performance in Maryland's comeback win at #19 Rutgers on April 14. DeMaio helped Maryland to its thrilling first round win over Towson, netting two goals while scooping a ground ball.
