Jackson, Mabry Join Terp Football Program

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland football coach Michael Locksley has announced that quarterback Josh Jackson and tight end Tyler Mabry have joined the Terrapin football program.
Jackson transfers in from Virginia Tech with two years of eligibility remaining, while Mabry comes from the University of Buffalo and has one year of eligibility remaining. With both having earned their undergraduate degrees, they'll each be eligible to play immediately.
Jackson, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound quarterback, started all 13 games for the Hokies in 2017. He threw for 2,991 yards and 20 touchdowns, while rushing for 324 yards and six touchdowns during his redshirt freshman season. He led all Power Five freshmen QBs in passing yards and completions (236), while ranking second in touchdown passes.
An Ann Arbor, Michigan native, Jackson set Virginia Tech freshmen records in TD passes, passing yards and 200+ yard passing games (9). Jackson started the first three games of the 2018 season for the Hokies before suffering a season-ending injury.
Mabry, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound tight end, was named First Team All-Mid-American Conference in 2018 after hauling in 27 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns. A tremendous blocker, Mabry helped the Bulls rush for 189.1 yards per game last season.
A Ypsilanti, Michigan native, Mabry appeared in all 38 games during his three years at Buffalo, making 29 starts. Mabry was named to the preseason watch list for the 2018 John Mackey Award, which is given annually to the top tight end in the nation.
