#ProTerps Report – October 8

The Maryland lacrosse #ProTerps Report will give updates each week during the summer, highlighting performances from Maryland alumni playing in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and Major League Lacrosse (MLL).

Week 17

MLL  Championship

The final installment of the 2019 #ProTerps report is here and it does not disappoint!

Eight Terrapins saw the field for Major League Lacrosse's championship weekend, including seven hardshells who captured the 2019 title with the Chesapeake Bayhawks. It was the first title for the Bayhawks since 2013, but they first had to get past Bryan Cole ('16) and the Atlanta Blaze in the semifinals.

The Terp-Hawks pulled out an OT thriller in the semis, coming from behind to win 14-13 on a goal from Steele Stanwick.

It would take another gritty effort for the Bayhawks in the MLL final on Sunday, but they prevailed with a 10-9 victory over the Denver Outlaws to capture the title.

Isaiah Davis-Allen ('17) ran out the remaining clock in the fourth quarter as the bench erupted, running onto the field to mob Phipps. Phipps was again clutch in net for the Bayhawks, making nine saves, while Bernhardt caused a pair of turnovers.

All in all, with seven Terps on the Bayhawks and 17 hardshells on the PLL Whipsnakes, Maryland lacrosse produced the most professional lacrosse champions of any school.

It might be safe to say 2019 was the greatest year for Maryland alums in the history of professional lacrosse.

Just to see them together, playing hard, having to come back and win a tough game I thought was awesome."
