Two Terrapins Named WGCA All-America Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Rising juniors Charlotte Lafourcade and Laura Van Respaille were named All-America Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association this week.
Lafourcade and Van Respaille, both Letters & Sciences majors, were recognized for earning GPAs over 3.50. Both of them also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors last month, along with teammates Ludovica Scandroglio and Virunpat Olankitkunchai.
Lafourcade, a native of Biarritz, France, competed in nine events this season and earned a scoring average of 73.80. She earned four top 20 finishes and finished in tied for 33rd at the Big Ten Championships in April.
A native of Wambrechies, France, Van Respaille competed in 11 events this past season. She finished in the top 25 in five events, including tied for 23rd at NCAA Regionals at Auburn in May.
The Terrapins earned their first bid to NCAA Regionals since 2012 and their first under fifth-year head coach Diana Cantu. Maryland finished 44th in the final GolfStat national team rankings, its highest ranking in program history.
