
Three Terrapins Earn B1G Preseason Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Three members of the Maryland golf team earned Big Ten Preseason Honors, the league announced Wednesday. Seniors Peter Knade and Christian Park and incoming freshman Austin Barbin were all honored.
Knade, a native of Easton, Md., played in all nine events for the Terrapins last year. He averaged 72.13 strokes and racked up four top 10 finishes. Knade shot a 75 or better in 23 of 24 rounds. He finished tied for ninth in the Big Ten Championships and was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team. This his third straight Big Ten Preseason Honor.
Park, who is from Charlotte, N.C., competed in all nine events last year as well for Maryland. He averaged 73.75 strokes and finished 10th in one event. Park shot a 75 or better in 18 of 24 rounds. He finished in the top 25 of the last three events of the spring. He tied for 24th at the Big Ten Championships.
Barbin comes to College Park from Elkton, Md. This summer, he qualified for the U.S. Junior Championships and the U.S. Amateur Championships. He finished ninth in the Junior PGA Championship and went -14 in the event. Barbin won the AJGA Imperial Headwear tournament at DuPont Country Club, where he set a course record 63 in the final round.
The Terrapins will open the 2019-20 season at the Battle at Briar's Creek, hosted by College of Charleston, Sept. 9-10 in John's Island, S.C.
