
Terps Wrap Up Action at Bedford Cup Sunday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's tennis team finished up play on the final day of the Bedford Cup Sunday at the Junior Tennis Champion Center in College Park.
In doubles, the duo of Saya Usui and Kate Yemelyanenka finished up play in the Old Bay Flight with a 6-2 win over Lund and Kuncl of Loyola. In the Crabcakes and Football Flight, Zoe Kulkarni and Joy Callwood took home third place when their opponents retired three games into the match.
In singles, Eva Alexandrova had a chance to take home the title in the Australian Open flight, but fell in a hard fought contest with Gabriela Davidson of VCU, 5-7, 7-6(2), 10-8. Yemelyanenka picked up a routine 6-1, 6-0 to finish out her play in the Wimbledon Flight. Joy Callwood and Saya Usui also picked up singles victories for the Terps.
Maryland returns to action next weekend at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
