ROSEMONT, Ill. – Goalkeeper
Noelle Frost of the fourth-ranked Maryland field hockey team (6-1) was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week Monday for her first career weekly honor.
Â
The senior from Glenwood, Md. had the best week of her career as she anchored the Terrapins to three wins in five days, including two shutouts and a shootout win.
Â
Against No. 6 Virginia on Friday, she tied her career-high six saves, including two saves in the two golden-goal overtime periods. With the game in a shootout, she stopped three of the Cavaliers' six shootout attempts, including the last one, to seal the victory for Maryland.
Â
In the Terps' 4-0 win over James Madison Sunday, she made four saves in her 48 minutes in goal to preserve her shutout of the year.
Â
The Terps' defense in front of Frost did not allow Towson a shot in their midweek matchup Wednesday.
Â
Frost is the first Terrapin this season to earn a Big Ten weekly award.
