COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After helping Maryland to a pair of wins, junior right back Ben Di Rosa was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Di Rosa was one of Maryland's defensive anchors as the Terps shutout defending national runners up Akron, 1-0, last Friday before dispatching Villanova by the same score line on Monday night. Di Rosa also provided the scoring on Monday, scoring a 20-yard screamer to put the Terps ahead of the Wildcats.
Di Rosa is the first Maryland player to receive Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors since current captain Johannes Bergmann received the plaudits on Sept. 19, 2017.
Maryland returns to action Friday night as Northwestern come to Ludwig Field for the Big Ten opener for both sides. Fans can watch the action live on BTN Plus or listen live on WMUC.
