COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland women's basketball sophomore Ashley Owusu was named to the Women's Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Watch List and the Wade Watch List Tuesday for two of the top individual honors in the nation.
Last week, Owusu, the reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year, was the only sophomore named to the 10-player All-Big Ten Preseason Team. She was also named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watch list as one of 20 of the top shooting guards in the country.
In her first year at the collegiate level, Owusu was second on the Maryland roster in scoring at 12.0 points per game, and second in the Big Ten with 5.4 assists per game. She was voted to the All-Big Ten Second Team at the end of the season.
Owusu led the Terps to their fourth Big Ten Tournament title in six years. She led the team in scoring in the three-game run with 15.3 points, 8.0 assists and 5.7 boards per game.
