
Jones Earns First Big Ten Weekly Honor

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Senior Stephanie Jones of No. 7 Maryland was named Big Ten Player of the Week Monday for her first career weekly honor.
Jones led Maryland (22-4, 13-2 B1G) to two dominant wins and first place atop the league standings in the past week. She led the Terrapins with 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and shot 89.5 percent from the field on the week (17-for-19).
Against No. 17 Iowa Thursday, Jones went a perfect 8-for-8 from the field for 16 points with six boards and two steals as the Terrapins beat their sixth ranked opponent on the year. She helped the Terrapins stifle Iowa's offense and hold the Hawkeyes under 20 points below their average in the 93-59 win.
At Penn State Sunday, Jones scored 17 of her season-high 21 points in the first half to keep Maryland strong against the Lady Lions. She went 9-for-11 from the field overall with three steals and a block. She picked up her third double-double on the year in a 106-69 victory.
The Terrapins have won 11 straight games, dating back to Jan. 12. In this 11-game win streak, the Terrapins are holding an average margin of victory of +23.5.
