Maryland Hosts First Wine on the Hardwood Event

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland Athletics hosted its first Wine on the Hardwood event to support women in sports Sunday at the XFINITY Center. The event capped off a month-long campaign to celebrate fearless women in Maryland Athletics history, as well as current student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
Guests of the event were treated to wine tastings from four wineries - Axios Wines, Sea Bird Wines, Jackson Family Wines and Crow Vineyard. Laurie Forster, the Wine Coach, hosted the event and shared insights on the wines.
Athletic Director Damon Evans, women's basketball head coach Brenda Frese, field hockey head coach Missy Meharg, women's lacrosse head coach Cathy Reese and Sr. Associate AD for Development, Cheryl Harrison, all spoke and gave toasts to the many successful and fearless women that are a part of Maryland Athletics.
VIP patrons enjoyed a private lunch with more in-depth wine instruction from Forster.
