
Jones, Owusu Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Freshman Ashley Owusu and senior Stephanie Jones earned weekly honors from the Big Ten conference in the final week of regular season competition Monday.
Owusu earned her fourth Freshman of the Week award. Jones was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll for her second weekly honor in the last three weeks.
Jones led the Terrapins (25-4, 16-2 B1G) to a pair of dominant wins to clinch their fifth Big Ten title in six years. She averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and shot 68 percent from the floor. She went 13-for-19 on the week and 5-for-5 at the foul line.
Against Purdue Tuesday, she led all scorers with 18 points, went 9-for-13 from the floor with nine boards and three steals in an 88-45 victory. At Minnesota Sunday, she scored 13 points, all in the first half, as the Terrapins built their lead in a 99-44 win.
Owusu had another consistent week leading the Terps. She averaged 12.5 points, 7.0 assists and shot 86 percent at the foul line. She added eight points and nine assists against Purdue, helping distribute to her teammates. At Minnesota, she went 4-for-5 from the foul line for 17 points with five assists and four steals.
Maryland will be the No. 1 seed for this weekend's Big Ten Tournament and will face the winner of Purdue and Michigan State Friday at noon in the Quarterfinals in Indianapolis. For more on the Big Ten Tournament, click here.
