SMYRNA, Del. -- Michael North led the way for the Terps at the National Collegiate Open, taking home the title at 149 pounds, while three other Terps placed during the last open event of the season.

Maryland heads to Piscataway, N.J. on March 7 to compete in the Big Ten Championships, before traveling to Minneapolis for the National Tournament on March 19. For full results from the National Collegiate Open, see below.

What to Know
- North, who last placed second at the Mat Town Open, takes home his first individual title of the season. The freshman has now placed in four opens, taking fifth at the Edinboro Open, second at both the Mat Town Open and F&M Open, and now first at the National Collegiate Open. The Wadsworth, Ohio native posted five straight victories - three by bonus points - to become the 149 pound champion. North used his team-high seventh pin of the season in the championship match vs. North Carolina's Mason Phillips.
- Jonathan Spadafora, Danny Bertoni, and Orion Anderson were Maryland's other placers in the last open competition of the 2019-20 season. Spadafora - who leads the team in wins - finished as the runner up at 165 pounds, while Bertoni placed fourth, and Anderson placed sixth.
- Spadafora opened the day 4-0 before falling in the 165 pound title match. Spadafora finishes his redshirt year with 24 wins to just 10 losses.
- Bertoni went 5-1 on the afternoon, earning fourth place at 141 pounds. The Jefferson, Maryland native concludes his redshirt campaign with 23 wins to only six losses.
- Anderson won three times on Sunday at the NCO, earning sixth place and placing in his second open event of the year.
- Garrett Burnham, Garrett Fisk, Jack Parr, and Kevin Makosy also competed at the NCO.
- Maryland officially closes out the 2019-20 regular season. In all, Maryland competed in 19 duals (finishing 2-17), the American Round Robin, the Black Knight Invite, and seven open tournaments.
