As a Redshirt Freshman (2020-21): Wrestled in 12 matches, competing in all eight duals at 165 pounds … made his season debut against Michigan (1/10) … wrestled in the MSU tri-meet and competed against Michigan State and Minnesota (1/16) … won his first match of the season against Northwestern’s David Ferrante with a 11-3 major decision (1/23) … wrestled against Ohio State (1/31) … lost in the second tiebreaker period vs. Indiana (2/14) … wrestled at Penn State (2/22) … represented Maryland at the Big Ten Championships and upset six-seed Joe Lee of Penn State in the opening round with a takedown in sudden victory (3/6)
As a Freshman (2019-20): Posted a 24-10 record while serving a redshirt year...his 24 victories led the team...also ranked second on the team in falls (5) and third in major decisions (3)...placed in five open competitions...finished as the runner-up at the National Collegiate Open, Mat Town Open, and Edinboro Open...also took home third at the Southeast Open and sixth at the F&M Open...won 10 of his last 13 matches to close the season...posted three wins by fall at the Wolfpack Open (11/17)...notched two wins via fall to open the Mat Town Open (2/23)...tallied four consecutive victories before falling in the championship match at the National Collegiate Open (3/1)
Before Maryland: Four-time All County wrestler .. county champion… first-team all Long Island… part of school record for most wins 188-22
Personal: Son of Phillip and Barbara Spadafara… father and brother both wrestled at the collegiate level
