Each week during the spring, umterps.com will profile a different member of the Maryland women's soccer team leading up to the 2020 season. This week we'll get to know Olivia Hicks from Uxbridge, Mass., who made 13 appearances during her freshman season with the Terps.

What was your favorite moment from last season?

The Purdue game was definitely one of my favorite moments. Playing the rain is exciting, and adds a thrill to the game.

What are your goals for next season?

For next season, I want to make an impact on and off the field. I want to grow as a player, and better myself in anyway that I can. As a team improving each and every day is important, so making it to the tournament again and going further would be huge. 

What attracted you to the University of Maryland?

Maryland had everything I was looking for in a school. Academically it had what I wanted to study, and the campus is beautiful. When it came to soccer, the team was so close with one another. It was like having a second family. It was also a program that was rebuilding, and that caught my eye. Being a part of the growth was something I was interested in.

If you could play another sport at Maryland what would it be?

If I could play another sport at Maryland it would be basketball. I played it all through middle school and high school. It was my second love other than soccer.

What is your favorite memory from playing soccer? 

Going to nationals in 2015 in Indiana with my club team. We won two national titles that year. It was a trip of a lot of memories and was the start of something great!

Favorite class you've taken at Maryland so far?

Sports psychology and sign language are my top classes so far

Are you a good cook, what's your favorite thing to make?

I can make a mean quesadilla

What is your favorite thing about yourself?

My perseverance and drive

What is the best vacation you have ever been on?

California

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?

If I could have an unlimited supply of something it would have to be popsicles or pineapple
