Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is sophomore
Ashley Owusu from women's basketball.
Sophomore guard Ashley Owusu led the Terrapins to a 3-0 week in Big Ten play, including two hard fought wins over top 25 teams. Owusu led the Terrapins in scoring in all three games and averaged 19.7 points, 6.7 assists and 6.0 rebounds in the three wins.
Against No. 18 Indiana Monday, she led the Terrapins to the gritty four-point win with 20 points, 5 boards and 5 assists. She scored 13 of her points in the first half to help the Terps build a 12-point lead at half.
At No. 23 Michigan State Thursday, Owusu led the way with 20 points, 10 boards and 6 assists. She went 10-for-12 at the foul line. She added 7 points in the fourth quarter to help hold off the Spartans' run.
Against Purdue Sunday, Owusu led the Terps once again with 19 points and 9 assists.Maryland went on a 17-0 run just after the media timeout in the third quarter. A pullup jumper by Owusu sparked the run and pushed the Terrapins' lead to 35 at 69-34 with 30 seconds left in the period.
Maryland will play at Minnesota (2-5, 1-4) Thursday at 6 p.m. ET at the Gophers' Williams Arena. Thursday's matchup will be televised on the Big Ten Network. Fans can also watch at
