MADISON, Wis. -- Ninth-ranked Maryland won its 24th consecutive Big Ten Conference game with a 79-70 victory at the Kohl Center on Sunday afternoon. The Terrapins (11-1, 7-0 Big Ten) won their 10th game in a row this season as they fended off a pesky Wisconsin (3-8, 0-8) squad.
Chloe Bibby led Maryland with 17 points with 16 coming in the first half. Bibby also had six rebounds and five assists.
Mimi Collins notched her second-career double-double with 13 points and a career-high 17 rebounds - the most by a Terp this season and most since
Kaila Charles had 18 last season against Iowa on Jan. 9, 2020.
"I thought Mimi and Chloe really helped carry us today," head coach
Brenda Frese said. "Some of it is youth and I think when our guard play is off, we've got to be able to find other ways. Mimi, when you talk about her 17 rebounds, I think she had seven in the third quarter, really allowed us to stay in this game and ultimately get this win."
Diamond Miller scored 17, including seven the third quarter as Maryland pulled away in the period.
Ashley Owusu overcame a tough shooting day and tallied 14 points, six rebounds and five assists while
Katie Benzan gave the Terps five players in double-figures with 12 points.
The Terps' 14-2 run bridging the third and fourth quarters proved to be the deciding factor. Maryland outrebounded Wisconsin, 43-29 in the second half.
For the Badgers, Imani Lewis posted a double-double racking up 17 points and 14 rebounds and Sydney Hilliard led Wisconsin in scoring with 19 points. Julie Pospisilova had 18 points.
Maryland has 24 straight Big Ten victories and has won all nine games it has ever played against Wisconsin.
Next, Maryland will host Iowa Thursday at 5 p.m. ET at the XFINITY Center. The Terps-Hawkeyes matchup will be televised on the Big Ten Network. Fans can also watch at
