COLUMBUS, OH – The Maryland volleyball team (13-3, 1-3) fell to the #8 Ohio State Buckeyes (12-2, 2-2) by way of a sweep on Saturday night in Columbus, 25-21, 25-18, 25-19..
Despite a hard-fought-effort, and only a total point differential of 17, the Terps fell to the eighth-ranked Buckeyes in three sets. After Ohio State raced out to a lead in the first set the Terps rallied back to force a tight finish, but couldn't finish the rally. The second and third sets were back-and-forth affairs before the Buckeyes pulled away towards the end of both sets.
Homecoming Hammer
- Outside hitter Sam Csire returned to her home state on Saturday with dozens of family and friends from nearby Strongsville, Ohio
- The sophomore totaled nine kills on 37 total attacks Saturday night in Columbus.
- She continues to lead the team in kills, now with 190 on the season.
Kohut Kills
- Outside hitter Lexi Kohut saw her most extensive playing time of the season, and her Terps career, on Saturday.
- Kohut notched her first kill as a Terp in the first set before finishing the night with four kills on 14 attempts.
- This past summer Kohut came to College Park for an internship with the academic services department before joining Coach Hughes' squad for one final season.
