WEEKEND STORYLINES
SPECTACULAR SOPHOMORES
- The Terps recent winning streak has been propelled offensively by a pair of incredible sophomores: outside hitter Sam Csire and setter Sydney Dowler.
- Csire has been earning points at will of late with 54 kills in her past three matches. Back-to-back matches with 20 and 19 kills respectivly have her top-ten in the conference in kills and points per set.
- Dowler has led the team in assists every match this season, but Saturday's performance was one of her best. Dowler went off for 40 assists, six kills, five digs, three aces, and three blocks to help the Terps defeat Michigan State.
BLOCKING BLITZ
- As has been the case for nearly two seasons, the Terps continue to be one of the premier blocking institutions in the nation.
- Maryland is the only Power 5 program to average over three blocks per set.
- The Terps have two individuals among the top-ten blockers in the conference: Rainelle Jones and Laila Ricks, Jones leads the nation with 1.81 blocks per set while Ricks is 8th in the conference with 1.27 blocks per set.
MILESTONE WATCH
- Cara Lewis is seven away from 100 career kills.
- Laila Ricks is seven away from 200 career kills.
- Rainelle Jones is 10 away from 500 career blocks.
- Adam Hughes is three away from passing Steve Aird for fourth on the all-time program victories list.
- Maryland and Penn State have met 34 times in history with six Maryland victories. The Terps took two sets off the Nittany Lions for the first time since 1983 earlier this season.
- The Terps and Scarlet Knights have met 32 times with the Terps winning 18. Maryland swept the last meeting on October 20 live on Big Ten Network.
