COLLEGE PARK, MD - Head gymnastics coach Brett Nelligan has expanded his coaching staff in new volunteer assistant, Hilary Steele.
"We are excited to welcome Hilary to the Maryland gymnastics family as she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience," Nelligan said. "Hilary's success as a collegiate and elite gymnast will add to our student-athletes' experience as we continue to make our presence known on the national stage."
Steele joins the Terrapins having competed with the Georgia Bulldogs from 2007-11. During her time, Steele saw an SEC and National Championship (2008), was an All-SEC Freshman Team Honoree ('08) , named an NCAA All-American selection ('08), was a member of the 2009 NCAA National Championship team, and earned a conference individual vault championship in 2010. Steele went on to become a volunteer assistant coach for the Bulldogs following graduation.
Before her time in the collegiate atmosphere, Steele was a USA Gymnastics National Team Member (2005-07), and an alternate for the 2006 World Championship Team. Steele added to her coaching experience and also entered the crossfit world as a head coach at Iron Tribe Fitness in 2011, then making appearances as a Crossfit Regional Competitor (2015-19). Steele's most recent coaching experience includes the Georgia Gymnastics Academy, and Kokokahi Gymnastics Team.
