COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Five members of the Maryland field hockey squad were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's All-Mid Atlantic Region Teams Monday.
Brooke DeBerdine, Bibi Donraadt and Hope Rose were named to the First Team. Emma DeBerdine and Julianna Tornetta made the Second Team.
This is the fourth honor for Brooke DeBerdine, third for Donraadt and Tornetta, second for Emma DeBerdine and first for Rose, a freshman.
Senior Brooke DeBerdine started in 104 games in her Maryland career – more than any Terrapin in program history. She earned All-Big Ten First Team honors for the second straight season. DeBerdine, the Terps' team captain, was named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list and the 20201 NFHCA Senior All Star Game.
Donraadt, a senior, led the Terrapins in scoring with 13 goals and added seven assists on the year. She reached the 100-career points mark this fall.
Freshman Hope Rose was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team and was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year. She led all freshmen in the Big Ten in scoring with 10 goals and six assists.
Junior Emma DeBerdine scored six goals and tallied a team-high nine assists this season for Maryland (15-7).
Graduate student Julianna Tornetta scored four goals with seven assists this year.
Maryland advanced to its 20th Final Four as a program earlier this month, topping No. 13 Virginia and No. 10 Syracuse 2-1 in both games to advance. In their Final Four match, the Terps rallied from a 2-0 deficit but ultimately fell to Liberty, 3-2, in double overtime.
