EVANSTON, Ill. -- The
No. 7 Maryland women's lacrosse team fell to No. 3 Northwestern, 25-12 in the first of the a two game weekend series on Saturday.
The seniors carried the Terps in this one, with
Brindi Griffin (two goals, two assists),
Catie May (three goals, one assist) and
Hannah Warther (three goals, one assist) all tallying four points and
Grace Griffin (one goal, two assists) right behind them with three points. The nation's leader in caused turnovers per game,
Lizzie Colson cleaned up on the defensive end, adding two more caused turnovers and picking up six draw controls and four groundballs.
Maryland trailed 13-7 at halftime before Northwestern won 13 of 16 draw controls in the second half to put the game away.
Maryland (5-2) and Northwestern (8-0) will play again on Monday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m. EST on the Big Ten Network.
