
Terps Compete in First Day of Fighting Illini Big Ten Relays

Champaign, Ill. – The Maryland Outdoor track and field team finished off day one of competition at the Big Ten Relays hosted by Illinois with several Terps setting new personal bests and making their way into the record books.
Women's Notes
- Alice Barnsdale and Angel Nkwonta competed in the hammer throw invite finishing in third and fourth places with final marks of 57.76m and 57.29m.
- In the open hammer throw, Kamryn Henderson rallied with a mark of 50.02m followed by Sarah George's 44.76m.
- Lillian Hill and Jessica Sutter took part in the women's javelin throw. Hill ended the day with a final mark of 38.60m.
- Sarah Daniels moved into No. 8 all-time in Maryland history in the 3000m steeplechase with a new PR of 11:15.78.
- Cheyenne Jones sped to a strong finish in the 400m dash.
- Kami Joi Hickson and Mackenzie Morgan competed in the 800m with final times of 2:12.84 and 2:14.11, respectively.
- Nadia Hackett finished the 400m hurdle race with a final time of 1:01.63.
- Christine Laurie continued to notch down her time in the 1500m finishing in 4:33.34. Amanda Eliker set a new PR crossing the line in 4:41.01.
- Katie Ericson ran in her first 5k closing out with a time of 17:51.36.
Men's Notes
- Caleb Dean set a new PR in the men's 110 hurdles of 14.06, making him the No.10 Terp all-time in the event.
- Drake Murphy and Brandon Turpin ran the 110m hurdles finishing back-to-back with times of 15.06s and 15.12s.
- Hayden Tobias took first place in the men's open Shot Put with a PR of 16.96m.
- Colin Rowe dashed to a 48.61s finish in the men's 400m dash.
- Brady Snelson ran just shy of his personal best in the 800m with a final time of 1:53.49 followed by Maxwell Myers' 1:54.57.
- Jeff Kline set a personal record in the shot put. Kline's 17.18m mark sets him in the Terps record book at No. 10 all-time.
- Justin DePinto set a PR in the 1500m (3:58.83) surpassing his collegiate best by a big margin.
- Senior Rylan Flint set a PR in the 5k running in a time of 15:09.85.
"This weekend is a great preview competing at the same site as the Big Ten Championships in May. This is the time of the year for the group to keep putting in the work."
